Ray Davies and Chris Crook met and joined forces in 1995 and have enjoyed a roller coaster ride of work in the Middle East, Far East, Jersey, Cape Town and the UK. The name “Obsession” derived from their mutual obsession with music, which has dominated their lives since childhood. RAY – An accomplished bass /guitarist/vocalist, has worked with top bands such as Culture Club, Paul Young, Jet Harris and Mungo Jerry who enjoyed many worldwide hits including “In the summertime”. He has spent several years working overseas and cruising on th QE2, Caribbean Cruise Line, and P & O, with the Joe Loss Band and the Angie Page Trio. In the seventies, Ray joined 5 piece vocal band “MAGIC” who went on to become one of the top QUEEN tribute bands in the UK, and are still performing to packed theatres worldwide today!
He enjoyed personal record success in 1983 when his band UK players reached the top 40 with their hit “Love’s gonna get you”, produced by Cultures Clubs Steve Levine and his voice can be heard on radio stations and recording studios alike where he undertook voice-over work for many clients. He was also involved with some of the music for the classic eighties children’s TV programme “Wizbit” with Paul Daniels, and his cameo television roles included “Howard’s’ Way”, “Campion” and “Dr Who and the Daleks”! Not forgetting his film appearance with David Essex in “That’ll be the day”!
